Inexpensive Weekend Getaway- Boston Style

This weekend my husband Matt and I decided to go on a little getaway to celebrate our 10 year dating anniversary (holy moly, I know!).┬áSince flying wasn’t really in our budget at the moment, we opted for a trip to Boston which is only about a 2 hour drive for us.

We had such an amazing weekend and we were able to do quite a bit without spending too much money. We found our hotel, The Park Plaza, via Priceline for only $113 a night. The room was small, but the hotel is really beautiful and is in a great location (only a couple blocks from Newbury street!!)

We also bought City Passes, which give you admission to the Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, the Skywalk Observatory, the Museum of Fine Arts, and The Harvard Museum of Natural History or The Old State House, all for only $51 per person. Buying our tickets this way saved us $48 each and allowed us to see so many great attractions.

I think this exhibit was about different types of lighting, but we used it to practice our zombie faces

We made a couple of friends, too:

Other than goofing off at museums, we had a great time just walking around the city.

We also had dinner at Nico Ristorante, which was lovely. We bought a Groupon for $35 that was worth $60-not bad!

Wearing an H&M dress that I bought earlier that day for $10, Seychelles booties, and Hue tights.

All in all it was a really special weekend, and I am so happy to have had this amazing guy in my life for 10 years now!

Sometimes you don’t have to go far to get away.

Snow Day

As much as I complain about the snow (I aim for at least once per day), there’s no denying how beautiful it can be.

Also, it’s a great reason to wear giant faux-fur coats.

I found this particular jacket at H&M last year on Black Friday for $20. Also wearing a JC Penney top, and thrifted jeans and boots (the heels of which are sadly drowning in snow).

Stay warm!
