I love contrast. I love it in photography, in fashion, in home decor, in food (salted caramel anyone?)….And that’s the idea behind this outfit: sweet and girly vs. badass; embellished vs. effortlessI bought this dress at a Goodwill for $6 to wear to a New Years party a couple of years ago and I haven’t really dusted it off since. I figured it deserves another chance to sparkle so I paired it with a casual sweater from H&M (similar here), my favorite mini backpack, and some combat boots given to me by Solana of Solo Thais. Solana’s blog is all about interior design- it’s fantastic and you should definitely give it a look sometime!Oh, and the background? Just a stunning view of New England’s finest fall foliage from atop Mount Sugarloaf in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The foliage is incredible this year- everywhere I look I feel like I am inside a painting. It’s absolutely amazing. I envy the LA girls all winter, but for now, there’s no place I’d rather be.
Everyone wears peep-toe booties to a recently-cut-down corn field, right? No? Just me? I got these at Payless during one of their wonderful sales a couple of months ago and have since been wearing them with just about everything. The grayish olive-y color is very accommodating, and the style of the shoe transitions easily from spring/summer right into fall (or winter if your’re lucky enough to live in a land without snow).Bag and top via Salvation Army, H&M leggings and hat, Forever 21 jewelry.Happy fall!
